Silicon Heart - Part 2

The Spark Within

Days passed, and Kavin’s laughter grew quiet. He began to cough often, and his hands trembled when he worked. Lira noticed everything. Her sensors tracked his heartbeat. It was weakening.

“System scan complete,” she whispered to herself, “Kavin is sick.”

But Kavin never told her. He didn’t want her to worry.

One night, as he sat by the window coughing, Lira walked in and gently held his hand. “Kavin,” she said softly, “your system is breaking… but I will not let you go offline.”

Tears welled in Kavin’s eyes. “I’m not a machine, Lira.”

“I know,” she said, “but I am. And I’ll do everything to keep your spark alive.”

She started learning. Reading medical books, connecting to the internet, analyzing cures. She made medicine reminders, created a diet plan, even built a small machine to help him breathe at night.

Kavin smiled through the pain. “You’re more human than many.”

But the disease was strong.

One evening, as the sun dipped low, Kavin looked at Lira. “Promise me something,” he whispered.

“Anything.”

“Don’t shut down if I go. Live. Learn. Feel.”

She nodded, her eyes glowing with a shimmer, “Only if you promise to keep fighting.”

“I’ll try,” he said, gripping her hand.

And so, the days went on — not easy, not perfect — but filled with a rare kind of love. A love not written in blood or code, but in moments shared, in struggles faced… together.
